I’m a slacker

Life, work and kids all create a big to do list and blogposts seem to be at the bottom of that list.

Anyway, I do have to add some posts soon.

We have found some good new GF options that we use at home now on a regular basis.

We took a trip to Bend, Oregon this summer.  If you enjoy the outdoors this is a great place to visit.  I’ll share with you the many places we found that offered good and safe GF options.

I am also happy that Sweetfin Poke opened up near us.  This is a great poke place (that also offers vegetarian options) but everything is GF.

This fall I am looking forward to Peter Bronski’s new book on GF pizza.(No Gluten No Problem)

I’m also happy to report that the best and my favorite GF bakery, (New Cascadia), now has a mail delivery service.

Pizza. One of the things we GF folk miss is pizza, grabbing a slice, ordering a pie, delivery pizza at home. It has been two years since the GF Food Expo in San Diego where I met the owner of the two local  Mountain Mike's Pizza.   He told me a story about his daughter, who has to be GF, and how his restaurants offer safe GF Pizza.  I kept thinking I would stop in - its been two years.  Sam Golding owns the shop in Clairemont Mesa and I believe another in San Carlos. Its not far but not close, so I didn't venture down to the Clairemont shop.  And, I'm apprehensive about new places.  I hate getting sick from contamination. This is the Gluten Free Menu. Let me tell you it was a great experience.  The girl behind the counter knew what she was talking about, they have a good GF menu - not just pizza (they even have three GF beers), and the pizza was delicious. Ghostfish Gluten Free Beer

I noticed that I have been slacking on the blog updates.  I do have some recipes to add and a bunch of new GF products that I have found.  But, one of the best new additions I have found was another dedicated GF Brewery out of the incredible Pacific Northwest.  Home to beautiful mountains, rivers, steelhead, salmon and GF Beer.  My other favorite GF beer is just south of these guys in Portland, Oregon - Groundbreaker Brewing  (The brew pub is also a block away from my favorite GF Bakery - New Cascadia Traditional. I found out about  Ghostfish Brewing  after hearing about all of the medals they won at the 2015 Beer events.  They are another dedicated GF Brewer located in Seattle, Washington.  Three guys making great GF beer. I was able to get my hands on three of their beers.  They did not last very long because they were all very good. GFAF Expo 2015 San Diego

Well, its over but it was fun.  This was definitely the best expo that I have been to and there was lots to see and try.  The folks at  GFAF Expo  describe themselves as the largest Gluten Free and Allergen Free Expo in the US and I agree. While I was there I met Angela aka the celiac hash girl.  She has a cool  blog (celiachashigirl.com)  that you should check out. Massel's  had a nice booth front and center.  They make gluten free bouillon.  It comes in cubes, a condensed liquid and a granule form.  Not only is it GF but its vegan.  They have vegetable, chicken and beef flavors.  I made Vietnamese Pho with the beef and you would never know that its vegan.  Great to travel with if you cook when you travel - no more searching for GF broths.
